About The Artwork

Gathering Wildflowers, Going To The Lake For Baronia by Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, represents the story of a very special childhood memory. Every year in the month of September on Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island, the wildflowers bloom. Heather and Boronia create a vibrate pink and purple landscape. As a child, there are memories for Delvene, of wandering through and learning from her Grandmother and mother, the importance of gathering flowers and where they are then placed. Every September, along with her family, Delvene continues to gather wildflowers, with her mother and her mothers grandchildren.
